A dental veneer is a thin porcelain shell that lays on the tooth and serves as an ideal cover for minor dental deficiency in shape or discolouring. It is an elegant and gentle solution that needs a perfect cooperation of dentist and technician when preparing teeth and achieving a perfect end result. Although dental veneers can be made of several materials, porcelain is the most freqently used one due to it's durability and realistic appearance. In comparison with crowns veneer restorations cause less demage (grinding) of the original tooth surface.

As a first step the dentist and the patient discusses the shape, material and shade of the dental veneer. As a second step the dentist takes off a thin layer from the chosen tooth's outer enamel. At this stage local aenesthasia may be used. The dentist makes a mold of the tooth and the technician creates the customized veneer for the tooth. The lab prepares a dental veneer in few days.

Then the dentist fixes the veneer using bonding material. When exposed to light the bonding material hardens and dries.
