Conscious sedation is significantly less dangerous than general anesthesia.

Conscious sedation means the controlled administration of oxygen and nitrous oxide that causes a relaxed feeling. The perception of pain is reduced while maintaining vital reflexes so that the dental patient can yet cooperate with the dental team.

Conscious sedation is advised

  • under long treatments, operations, as it helps the patient to stay calm and relaxed during the most delicate moments yet allows constant and full cooperation with the dentist during the dental treatment.
    During the course of daily routine procedures like taking impression or tartar removal conscious sedation helps dental patients go through each treatments without any inconveniencies.
